The internet was buzzing this weekend with reports that Fox is ready to move “American Idol” to a new night.

The talent show has been a fixture on Tuesday and Wednesday nights since it began nine years ago. But now comes word that the network might announce this week that “Idol” will air next season on Wednesday and Thursday nights instead.

The reason?

A weakness in the other network’s Thursday shows — “CSI” and “Grey’s Anatomy” particularly — that could be an opening for “Idol” to make a significant ratings dent.
