FOX announced its new mid-season schedule yesterday, which includes the return of “24,” “Prison Break” and “American Idol.”

“24,” Kiefer Sutherland’s popular real-time thriller, debuts Sunday and Monday, Jan. 15 and 16. “Prison Break,” an unexpected hit, returns in March.

Meanwhile, “American Idol,” which had been rumored to be moving to Wednesdays and Thursdays, will remain on Tuesday and Wednesday nights.

Also among Fox’s winter schedule is “Skating with Celebrities” (Jan. 23) – an obvious play on ABC’s “Dancing with the Stars” but more dangerous because it’s on ice. Three of the celebrities participating allegedly ended up in the emergency room during filming.
