The world premiere of “Iron Man 2,” due to take place in London, was canceled over travel disruption caused by volcanic ash, Sky News reported Monday.

The event was scheduled for next Monday at London’s Westfield retail and entertainment complex and was set to be the first premiere held there. A host of A-list stars was expected to attend.

The film features Robert Downey Jr., Mickey Rourke, Scarlett Johansson and Gwyneth Paltrow.

The cancellation came as a blow to Paramount, who planned the event for months, and also to the Westfield Centre.

The shopping complex plans to compete with Leicester Square as London’s top destination for film premieres.

But the volcano left distributors Paramount with little choice, as they were to unable bring the cast into the U.K. — meaning that the premiere would lack the usual red carpet glamor.

They now have a week to rearrange the event in California to ensure high-profile guests and media can attend.
