It sounds like the title of a KISS song.

But The Scratcher is about as far away from Detroit Rock City as you can get in Manhattan.

Scratcher’s about as traditional an Irish pub as you can get in the East Village, with worn, wooden benches and tables running along one wall, packed with a mix of formerly upwardly-mobile crowd of EV slackers, well-fed dogs (canines are welcome here), and an Irish expat crowd with brogues as thick as the head on the Guinness.

That said, imported tap beer (Harp, Bass, et al) best be your drink of choice if you’re tippling here: there’s no liquor for sale at Scratcher.

The Scratcher, 209 E. 5th St., between Bowery and Second Avenue, 212-477-0030.
