Former “Tonight Show” host Jay Leno returned to the NBC program Tuesday to take part in the opening monologue in place of successor Jimmy Fallon.

Leno, who retired in 2014 in favor of Fallon, made his guest return in part to plug his new show, “Jay Leno’s Garage,” which debuts Wednesday at 10 p.m. on NBC’s cable sister network CNBC, according to “Deadline Hollywood.”

Leno hosted “The Tonight Show” from 1992 to 2009 and then returned in 2010 after Conan O’Brien briefly took over.
