They’re gone — and forgotten.
In what’s become a recurring theme at the Oscars, major notable figures were left out of the “In Memoriam” segment. This year, neither Joan Rivers nor Elaine Stritch made the cut.
Rivers appeared in several films including “The Muppets Take Manhattan” and “Spaceballs.” She also wrote and directed the 1978 comedy “Rabbit Test.”
Stritch, a Broadway legend, appeared in everything from 1957’s “A Farewell to Arms” to 1987’s “September” to 2005’s “Monster-in-Law.”
Both late stars have also had critically revered documentaries made about them — “Joan Rivers: A Piece of Work” and “Elaine Stritch: Shoot Me.”
Taylor Negron, best known for “The Last Boy Scout,” and Jan Hooks, the “Saturday Night Live” star who appeared in movies including “Coneheads,” were also snubbed.
