Immediately after wife Kate’s live interview this morning on the “Today” show — her first since the reality-TV couple announced last month they were splitting — Jon is slated to tape a reply for E! that will air tonight. (VIDEO: Watch Kate’s ‘Today Show’ Visit )

It’s an unusual turn of events for the couple, stars of the hit series “Jon & Kate Plus 8,” who captured hearts as they struggled to raise sextuplets and twins — all under 10 years old — then became tabloid fodder when the marriage fell apart.

Jon’s interview will be turned into an hour-long special that airs tonight at 7.
