When host Ryan Seacrest announced that Chris Richardson was safe, Sparks broke into tears, thinking she was going home. Seacrest teased it just enough to then tell the crowd favorite that she “was safe,” too. An “American Idol” rep stood by their teasing decision: “Ryan [Seacrest] did not announce position.”
