‘JUDGE Judy” is head ing back to Ch. 2.
The top-rated court show, hosted by Judge Judy Sheindlin, will begin airing on Ch. 2 in 2006, according to Variety.
That will give Ch. 2 a powerhouse one-two punch with (most likely) “Dr. Phil” airing at 3 p.m. and “Judy” following at 4.
According to Variety, the station was able to swoop in and snare the show after Ch. 4 wanted a cut of the licensing fee to renew “Judy,” citing the show’s older-skewing audience.
When “Judy” producer Paramount balked at that scenario, Ch. 2 entered the bidding and walked away with the show – which aired on Ch. 2 in the mid-’90s.
“It’s great to welcome Judge Judy back to the CBS 2 family – where she began,” Ch. 2 president/GM Lew Leone said yesterday.
