YOU can take Katie Couric out of the “Today” show — but you can’t take “Today” out of Katie.

Blogging yesterday from Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, where she is following Secretary of Defense Robert Gates on a Mideast tour, the CBS News anchor implied that she wanted to have some fun with the locals.

“Heading to the Souk, where I’m told I will have to wear my abaya if I don’t want to be harassed,” she wrote.

“I’m thinking about not wearing it and catching the encounter on my Flip, but maybe that’s not such a great idea!”

On the trip, she has been recording some things on her personal video camera, called a Flip, to post on her YouTube channel.
