FOR the record, the Knicks won the ratings battle of last Saturday’s “Christmas in July” sports fest.
The biggest single sports day in recent memory – which included the NBA Eastern Conference Finals, game two of the Yankees-Mets subway series and the Belmont Stakes – was a ratings bonanza. Bur no record-breaker.
According to preliminary ratings estimates, here’s how the three events scored:
1.) NBA Playoffs: Knicks vs. Pacers (WNBC/Ch. 4) – 843,200 homes.
2.) Yankees vs. Mets (WNYW/Fox Ch.5) – 680,000 homes.
3.) Belmont Stakes (WABC/Ch. 7) – 673,200 homes.
Still, the most-watched sports event weekend was the Friday night opening game of the series which was seen in about 897,600 homes, according to early estimate.
