LIGHT THE LIGHTS!
Faster than a speeding bullet – right on the heels of Thanksgiving – comes Hanukkah, which began last night at sundown and runs through Dec. 7.
Celebrate the Festival of Lights tomorrow from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. with a family festival at the 92nd Street Y that includes all the trimmings: music, theater, arts and crafts, an olive press (for making oil for the menorah) and lots of latkes.
At 3 p.m., there’ll be a mini-version of Handel’s great oratorio, “Judas Maccabeus,” featuring the award-wining Young People Chorus of New York City and members of the Children’s Orchestra Society.
Tickets are $15 for the festival, $25 for the concert, or you can get a combo ticket for $35. In the spirit of tzedakah (helping the needy), bring canned food for the Yorkville Common Pantry. For tickets and information, call (212) 415-5500.
More family celebrations are afoot Monday, when Lincoln Center lights its tree.
Join Arlo Guthrie, a mariachi band, a troupe of young British lindy hoppers and singers from LaGuardia (“Fame”) High School for a free concert beginning at 5:30 p.m. at Josie Robertson Plaza at 63rd Street and Broadway. For more information, call the hot line at (212) 875-5108.
