SAY goodbye to “Providence.“

NBC is cancelling the series, which premiered in January 1999, and will air a two-hour, tie-up-all-the-loose-ends finale Dec. 20 (8-10 p.m.).

The Friday-night show, starring Melina Kanakaredes as a doctor who returns to her hometown, was off about two million viewers thus far this season.

“NBC owes a great deal of gratitude to the cast and crew of ‘Providence,’ which turned the lights on for the network on Fridays when it premiered and has helped keep us No. 1 on the night ever since,” NBC Entertainment president Jeff Zucker said.
