NORMALLY loquacious CBS News veteran Bob Schieffer won’t comment on his kid brother’s possible run for political office.

Tom Schieffer, a former ambassador to Australia and Japan during President George W. Bush’s administration, has formed an exploratory committee regarding a possible 2010 run for governor of Texas. (He’s a Democrat.)

He’s 11 years younger than his brother, Bob.

“My brother is my brother and actually very much like a son to me,” Bob Schieffer told the Beaumont Enterprise.

“So, beyond that, I have to say ‘no comment,’ ” said Schieffer, who hosts “Face the Nation.”
