THAT famous “Days of Our Lives” hourglass could be running out of sand – quickly.

NBC, which airs “Days” but doesn’t own the soap, is considering canning the 41-year-old daytime drama if it can’t negotiate a lower licensing fee, according to Variety.

“Days” is currently contracted to remain on NBC through March 2007.

NBC officials had no comment yesterday.
