BLUSTERY NFL analyst John Madden is jumping to NBC’s “Sunday Night Football” in 2006.

Madden, 69, who will continue on ABC’s “Monday Night Football” for one more season, made his move after ABC’s decision to shift “MNF” to cable’s ESPN in 2006.

The six-year deal is reportedly worth around $4 million-a-year – down slightly from what Madden was pulling in at ABC.

The garrulous Madden, known for his high-decibel analysis, becomes a free agent after this coming season because his “MNF” deal was with ABC –not ESPN.

“I did have some other options, but I really didn’t negotiate with anyone other than NBC,” Madden said yesterday.

Madden, who’s paired with play-by-play man Al Michaels on ABC, joined “MNF” in 2002 from Fox.

NBC Sports chairman Dick Ebersol said it’s possible that Michaels could re-join Madden in the NBC booth.

“I would guess that when the NBA Finals are over we’ll talk extensively with Al Michaels,” Ebersol said.

“He’s clearly one of the great play-by-play announcers, and if there’s a deal to be worked out there, I would surely like to try.”

Madden, who’s won 14 Emmys as TV’s best-known NFL analyst, began his TV career in 1980 at CBS. He will now have worked for all four major networks.

“I like the whole thing of having the opportunity to go somewhere where we’re starting something new and different,” he said.

“The Sunday-night game will be big, and the pre-game show will be big,” Madden said. “I’ve been lucky at CBS and Fox, and I enjoyed all those years, and I really enjoy ‘Monday Night Football’ right now. I just felt this is where I wanted to go.”

NBC, which walked away from its NFL contract in 1998, announced its new six-year, $3.6 billion NFL deal last April.

The deal also includes the playoffs and two Super Bowls.

“The Super Bowls and playoff games are just frosting on the cake,” Madden said.
