Jim Campilongo, a San Francisco native who moved to New York years ago, works magic with his Telecaster, melting together elements from jazz, blues, rock and country to create a his own gold standard. Whether he’s covering a pop song such as “Michelle,” a country song such as “Sweet Dreams” or one of his originals, the effect is haunting and lovely. His upcoming album, “American Hips,” features Norah Jones (his former roommate in Brooklyn) and Monday from 11 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. he features songwriter/singer Jesse Harris (also former roommate) in a free performance at the Living Room (154 Ludlow St. between Stanton and Rivington streets; [212] 533-7234). He and his Electric Trio perform at the downtown club every Monday night with special guests. See jimcampilongo.com for more info.
