MORE ‘POWER’ TO LIZZIE
WAYWARD public relations princess Lizzie Grubman’s MTV reality show “PoweR Girls” may be back for a second season.
Grubman is said to be in talks with various Viacom networks about bringing back a new season of the show, according to the gossip Web site, Gawker.com.
While it’s not likely that MTV has any plans to pick up the low-rated show, it is understood that Grubman signed a multi-year production deal with the network and may be trying to hammer something out with one of the cable channel’s sister networks, including VH1 or UPN.
VH1 officials declined to comment, but it is understood that execs at the network have been in discussions with Grubman, although no decision has been reached.
UPN has something of a history with out-of-left-field reality shows – last season it aired Britney Spears’ bizarre self-filmed reality show, “Britney and Kevin: Chaotic.”
A network spokeswoman said the network does not comment about its reality-show development.
Last season’s show took viewers behind the scenes at star-studded events and functions for Grubman’s clients – who include artists like Ja Rule and Jay Z and corporations like MGM Grand and Sony.
It focused on four pretty twenty-somethings who worked for Grubman as they tried to negotiate the harsh reality of the PR biz. But last spring, it didn’t draw the kind of boffo ratings and attention network officials had hoped for.
