Shelby Lynne, “Pretend”

This melancholy breakup song is the sole track on “Just a Little Lovin’ ” that Lynne wrote. “It was the only song that I had that would even come close to sittin’ in nicely with the other [Dusty Springfield] tunes,” she says.

The Matches, “Wake the Sun”

Wordplay, peppy percussion and singalong choruses star in the genre-crossing first song off the Matches’ third album, “A Band in Hope.” They’re at Irving Plaza on April 11.

Widespread Panic, “Boom Boom Boom”

The Athens, Ga., band returns with a gritty Southern-style jam featuring new guitarist Jimmy Herring, on the group’s 10th studio album, “Free Somehow.” They’re at the United Palace on Friday and Saturday.

Bachelorette, “Down in the Street”

This New Zealander brings her one-woman, many-monitors space pop to town for a trippy good time – ukuleles have never sounded cooler than they do here. She plays tonight at Cake Shop and Friday at Brooklyn’s Sound Fix.
