“PICKLES AND POMEGRANATES – JEWISH HOMES NEAR AND FAR”:The Jewish Museum’s new interactive exhibition promises to transport families into two completely different Jewish homes at the close of the 19th century. One recreates the gritty world of a Lower East Side tenement apartment, including furniture and toys from the period. The other depicts an exotic Persian home, complete with satin cushions and Persian veils. The exhibit allows viewers to see these worlds through the eyes of two sample 19th-century children, “Sarah” from the Lower East Side and “Rafi” from Isfahan, Persia. The Jewish Museum, 1109 Fifth Ave., (212) 423-3200.
