Of course Paul Bettany’s happiness here might have something to do with the fact that he’s married to Jennifer Connelly, but never mind that. The acting power couple, who used to be synonymous with Brooklyn, recently moved to lower Manhattan. “There are a couple reasons. One is that we didn’t want a house that was right on the street,” Bettany says. “Two, we were in a five-floor walk-up, and if you’ve got children, you get up to the top and then they say, ‘I want a juice box!’ You’re like, ‘Arrrr.’ So we decided to get something a little more lofty and all in one level, and it’s made life much easier.” Bettany’s latest is “Inkheart,” a fantasy in which a father and daughter discover they have the power to bring storybook characters to life. This is his New York.

1) Soho House, 29-35 Ninth Ave., between 13th and 14th streets

“It has a great roof terrace and great food. It’s kind of like a drinking club in the evening, but during the day, it’s a great place to hang out with the kids, because it’s got a pool and all that stuff.”

2) Pastis, 9 Ninth Ave., at Little West 12th Street

We used to eat there all the time. When I first came to New York, Jennifer was living in the West Village. I’ve missed it hugely. It’s lovely and really reliably great food. The burger is extraordinary.”

3) Okami Fusion Sushi, 63 Reade St., between Broadway and Church Street “We love sushi, and my kids love sushi. We just found Okami Fusion. Really great sushi at a far more reasonable price. You can take your family out to Nobu and realize that you have to re-mortgage your house.”

4) Hudson River Park “We go running sometimes, we take the dog out, or take the kids for walks. It’s lovely. You get such beautiful light off the river, it’s like living at the beach.”

5) Prospect Park We used to live on the park. I do miss the availability of all of that grass and trees for my kids. It was

fantastic to take them straight out into the fields and kick a ball around with them, which is a little more tricky in lower Manhattan.”

6) Pita Pan, 167 Seventh Ave., at First Street, Brooklyn

“I love Turkish food. There’s a place called Pita Pan, and if you’re having to get fit, it’s the healthiest fast food that there is. You get chunks of chicken and salad in a whole-wheat pita, and it’s fantastic.”

7) Al di la, 248 Fifth Ave., at Carroll Street, Brooklyn

“I miss this place in Brooklyn. They have amazing Italian food.”

8) Brooklyn Heights “I love the trick-or-treating. We don’t have that in England. It’s so much fun. In Brooklyn Heights, people do up the whole street with spiders coming down the buildings, and it’s really lovely for the kids.”
