THE star of “The Nanny,” Fran Drescher, has signed on for a lead role in a new comedy.

Drescher will star in a series called “Shacking Up” on the WB.

The show is about a 24-year-old man who moves back home with his mother and her boyfriend, who is six months younger than the son is.

Drescher will play the hot mother.

The show, which was at first to be called “Robbing the Cradle,” marks the return of Drescher to series TV after her hugely successful run on “The Nanny.”

On the CBS show, Drescher starred as Fran Fine, a down-and-out Queens cosmetician who goes to work taking care of the children of an up-tight British Broadway producer. Her character was best known for a distinctive, concrete-cracking laugh.

The CBS series aired from 1993-99 and is still on in reruns.

The new series is something of an imitiation of her real life.

Since breaking up with her producer-husband Peter Marc Jacobson during the show’s fifth season, she has been linked with several younger men.

Drescher spent much of her time away from TV battling uterine cancer and writing a best-seller about her recovery.
