Actor Neil Patrick Harris announced Friday the arrival of the twin babies he and partner David Burtka were expecting via a surrogate mother.

The twins, named Gideon Scott and Harper Grace, were born Oct. 12, the “How I Met Your Mother” star wrote on his Twitter page.

“Babies!!” the announcement read. “On 10/12, Gideon Scott and Harper Grace entered the Burtka-Harris fold. All of us are happy, healthy, tired and a little pukey.”

Harris became a household name at age 16 when he portrayed a teenage physician on the TV series “Doogie Howser, M.D.” He came out as a gay man in 2006. Burtka is a chef and actor who has guest starred on “How I Met Your Mother.”

The couple has been together for about six years.
