DANCE REVIEW

ABSTRACT:

You’ve doubtless wanted to fly. Who hasn’t? Surely in most of us there is that little bit of Icarus itching to get out. But Lisa Giobbi has done something about it. She joined the circus, and learned to fly. Well… sort of.

Sometimes the “trapeze” will simply be swathes of cloth, as in her new solo “Babylon” but elsewhere, the trapeze work – and Giobbi and Harling take sensational risks – is unadulterated by anything other than a dance sensibility and an ever-present touch of eroticism, both of which considerably distance the work from the circus.

Definitely worth seeing – final performances are on Thursday and Sunday evenings.
