ON DECK, SERIES IN PINSTRIPES
CBS is trying to sneak a fastball past viewers this fall when it introduces a new baseball series about a team that is remarkably like the Yankees – but isn’t called the Yankees.
On the new series, called “Clubhouse,” the team – which wears pinstripes with a dead-ringer Yanks logo – is called the New York Empires.
“Clubhouse” is a coming of age drama about a 16-year-old (played by Jeremy Sumpter) who lands his dream job as a batboy for the, um, Empires.
The kid becomes pals with his idol, a third baseman played by ex-Superman Dean Cain and the team’s equipment manager, played by Christopher Lloyd.
