Last year, a lesbian was the chicest thing to have on your arm.

Then it was babies. Sharon Stone, Vanity Fair scribe Nancy Jo Sales and Camryn Manheim all appeared in photo ops slinging around their newborns like last year’s Fendi bags.

But (sigh of relief) that fad seems to have faded. The tots have been shut away with their nannies and everyone is back to toting their tiny doggies – preferrably Yorkies.

Like Reese Witherspoon in “Legally Blonde,” Goldie Hawn, Portia de Rossi and Mariah Carey have been taking their puny pooches everywhere. Unlike lesbians and babies, at least the pups are easy to clean up after.
