BLACKBALLED: THE BOBBY DUKES STORY [**] (Two stars)

BRANT Sersen’s mockumentary “Blackballed: The Bobby Dukes Story” concerns a star paintball player who gets banned from the game. No, he didn’t use steroids, but he did commit one of the obscure sport’s cardinal sins, “wiping.” In other words, he removed a paint spot from his clothes after being hit.

It’s 10 years later, the ban has run its course and Bobby Dukes, played by Rob Corddry of TV’s “The Daily Show,” is anxious to form a team and compete in the Hudson Valley Paintball Classic. Some welcome his return, others don’t. Says one non-fan: “You put a pretty big sh – – stain on the entire sport.”

Corddry leads a game cast, but the film is rough around the edges and lacks the sophistication of, say, Christopher Guest’s “Best in Show” and “Waiting for Guffman.” It would

play better as a TV sketch.
