Now come reports that John Edwards, twice a candidate for president, is about to admit that he fathered a baby with a former campaign staffer — just as the new series “The Good Wife” debuts.

Yesterday, CBS’s Web site was offering free preview clips from the show under a banner that predictably reads “Ripped from the Headlines.”

Edwards, who has admitted cheating on his wife Elizabeth with videographer Rielle Hunter, could face criminal charges for trying to cover up the affair.
