PART 2 of ABC’s controversial “The Path to 9/11” was TV’s mostwatched program Monday night – but viewership fell from its Sunday-night premiere.

“Path” averaged 12.3 million viewers Monday (8-10:30 p.m.), down from the 13 million viewers it averaged Sunday night, when it was up against NFL football on NBC and a Sept. 11 documentary on CBS.

Despite the lower viewership for Part 2, “Path” still easily beat its competition, which consisted mostly of repeats (save for Fox’s “Prison Break” and “Vanished”).

“Path” began at 8, but was off for a half-hour (9-9:30 p.m.) during President Bush’s address to the nation.

The two-part “docudrama” was slammed by Bill Clinton, and the Bush White House, for taking historical license in portraying the Clinton administration’s role in the events leading up to Sept. 11.
