Maybe the other judges were worried about their jobs.

“Dancing With the Stars,” under pressure from PETA, nixed a plan to have a chimp on the show to act as a mock “guest judge” along with regulars Bruno Tonioli, Len Goodman and Carrie Ann Inaba.

The chimp would have appeared this past Tuesday night. But “Dancing” executive producer Conrad Green pulled the plug on the idea when PETA officials complained after hearing “Dancing” host Tom Bergeron promote the upcoming appearance the night before.

“I do appreciate your point that showing a chimpanzee on our show may indirectly lead to other chimpanzees being ill-treated in the future,” Green wrote in an e-mail to PETA, according to Variety.
