Two producers have filed a lawsuit against NBC — claiming Syfy’s “Ghost Hunters” is based on an idea they pitched to Sci-Fi Channel between 1996 and 2003.

(Sci-Fi is Syfy’s predecessor — both networks are owned by NBC.)

The breach of implied contract lawsuit was filed by Larry Montz and Daena Smoller Thursday in LA Superior Court. The suit also names “Ghost Hunters” executive producer Craig Piligian and series star/producer Jason Hawes, according to deadline.com.

“The claims are without merit and we expect to prevail,” a Syfy rep told deadline.com. —
