BREAKFAST AT TIFFANY’S (1961)

Sunday, 4 p.m., TCM

Audrey Hepburn never looked more glorious nor George Peppard more suavely handsome than in this delightful take on Truman Capote’s famous novella about an unpredictable New York party-girl named Holly Golightly and the writer who falls for her. Holly makes her living by getting “powder room money” from one man and by visiting a mobster in Sing Sing each week. Oh.

THE DIARY OF ANNE FRANK (1959)

Monday, 12:15 a.m., TCM

Three Oscars, including a Best Supporting Actress trophy for Shelley Winters, went to this adaptation of the diary left by a Jewish teenager (Millie Perkins) who recorded her life and hopes after her family went into hiding during the Nazi occupation. The family as well as others lived in the attic of a house owned by a sympathetic businessman.

FERRIS BUELLER’S DAY OFF (1986)

Matthew Broderick is Ferris, the class wise guy whose parents think he’s an angel. Ferris is determined to cut school and take his girlfriend and best friend with him. He’s convinced half the school that he’s on his deathbed, but the principal doesn’t buy it for a minute. The principal wants his scalp and so does his sister, played by Jennifer Grey.

GREASE (1978)

Saturday, 1:30 p.m., VH1

How can you not love this insanely entertaining musical about Danny Zuko (John Travolta), a 1950’s teenage bad boy who falls for the goody-goody girl (Olivia Newton-John) while trying to look tough and cool in front of his school friends? Much singing and dancing ensue on the way to a happy ending in this retro-rock musical. A great score.
