VIVA VILLA! (1934)
Wednesday, 8:45 a.m., TCM
Wallace Beery is at his best in this rousing epic about the rowdy Mexican revolutionary. Directed by Howard Hawks and Jack Conway, with pre-Code touches like Fay Wray whipped in silhouette. In the role of Jonny Sykes. Lee Tracy was fired and replaced by Stuart Erwin after urinating on a Mexican parade.
BAMBOOZLED (2000)
Thursday, 8 p.m., IFC
Spike Lee wrote and directed this underrated, razor-sharp satire about an unhappy black TV executive (Damon Wayans) who creates a modern-day minstrel show (starring Savion Glover and Tommy Davidson) in an attempt to get fired. Instead, it becomes a sensation. With Jada Pinkett Smith.
