THELMA & LOUISE (1991)
Sunday, 8 p.m., WPIX
Susan Sarandon and Geena Davis were both nominated for Best Actress Oscars in this often funny female buddy flick. A waitress and a downtrodden housewife hit the road and one ends up killing a guy, the other picking up vagrant (Brad Pitt). They also rob a convenience store and drive off a cliff. Pitt is a helluva hustling lover-boy.
SCARFACE (1993)
Monday, 8 p.m., BET
One of the best “worst” movies of all time. Brian DePalma’s cult fave stars Al Pacino as Tony Montana, a Cuban immigrant who builds a drug cartel in Miami. Tony favors white suits and gold chains big enough to pull tractor-trailers. Atrocious dialogue and hilariously phony accents makes this a “don’t miss!”
THE POSEIDON ADVENTURE (1972)
Wednesday, 9:15 a.m., AMC
It wasn’t the tidal wave that made this ship capsize, it was all the cheese inside! Gene Hackman is a priest who manages to guide a group of passengers through the bowels of an aging cruise ship that has flipped over. Every single actor in the all-star cast is upstaged by Shelley Winters as Belle Rosen, a large, upside-down yenta.
BARFLY (1987)
Thursday, 8 p.m., WWOR
Mickey Rourke is at his unpalatable best as a writer who hooks up with a female boozehound (Faye Dunaway). A strong stomach and the ability to enjoy watching two lushes drink and have sex is a prerequisite to liking this film. Written by one who’s been there, Charles Bukowski.
