M*A*S*H (1970)Sunday, 8 p.m. AMC

The movie that eventually became one of the most successful TV shows of all time. Donald Sutherland and Elliott Gould are a couple of young Army surgeons in wartime Korea who try to keep the sanity amid the horror with jokes, wisecracks, women, and betting the farm on a football game. Also starring Tom Skerritt, Sally Kellerman and Robert Duvall. Brilliant.

LITTLE BIG MAN (1970)

Tuesday, 11 p.m., TCM

Arthur Penn’s satirical look at how the west was won through the recollections of Jack Crabb (Dustin Hoffman), a 121-year-old man who is either a huge liar or the world’s most unsung hero. Crabb’s life story includes being raised by Indians, working as a gunslinger and as a scout for Custer. Chief Dan George was nominated for Best Supporting Actor.

SE7EN (1995)

Wednesday, 8 p.m., Starz

A big twist on the classic plot about the differences between the rookie and the veteran cop working the same case. Here, the two detectives (Brad Pitt and Morgan Freeman) are on a desperate hunt to find a serial killer whose victims are guilty of each of the seven deadly sins. Warning: the first murder, for “gluttony,” is nauseating.

LONG LIFE, HAPPINESS & PROSPERITY (2002)

Saturday, 11:15 p.m., Ch. 13

An indie about a 12-year-old (Valerie Tian) who uses Taoist magic to help find a rich boyfriend for her financially strapped mother (Sandra Oh). The girl’s amateur magic, though, goes awry and causes an aging security guard to get sacked, and a local butcher to win lotto. At least mom’s life is no longer dull!
