REEL GOOD
WILLY WONKA AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY (1971)
Monday, 8 p.m., ABC Family
If your kids are only familiar with “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory,” make sure that they see “Willy” because it’s more like kid’s entertainment than the Johnny Depp version. This delightful, tune-filled satire, based on Roald Dahl’s beloved book, has a Gene Wilder at the top of his game – and fame – as Willy.
BLADES OF GLORY (2007)
Monday, 8:20 p.m., MAX
To enjoy this very t asteless tale of two washed-up skating stars – Will Ferrell and Jon Heder – who are banned from skating after brawling on the Olympic podium, it helps to have been born with a sophomoric sense of humor. If you are at all amused by the premise, you’ll laugh til you spit soda from your nose when the skaters join forces to reclaim their glory by dancing in the “pairs” competition.
MONTE WALSH (1970)
Thursday, 8 p.m., TCM
Lee Marvin and Jack Palance are middle-aged cowpokes who watch the work dry-up as railroads and modern life encroach on their ways in the waning days of the old west. Jeanne Moreau plays Marvin’s girlfriend. She’s a hooker (of course) and she is marvelous (naturally).
THE EXORCIST (1973)
Saturday, 1:15 a.m., AMC
Ellen Burstyn plays the actress-mother of Regan (Linda Blair), an adolescent girl who plays with a Ouija board until all hell literally breaks loose. She becomes possessed by the devil and only a priest/exorcist (Max von Sydow) can cast out the demon. But first her head spins around, she vomits copious amounts and levitates. Feel free to scream until you yourself sound possessed. With Jason Miller.
