ABC’s tribute to John Ritter Tuesday was the most watched show of the night.

Almost 14 million viewers tuned into the ABC News special, “A Life of Laughter” anchored by Diane Sawyer. The show featured sitdowns with Ritter’s colleagues: the cast of “8 Simple Rules for Dating My Teenage Daughter” and “Three’s Company.”

It also included the events that transpired on the set of Ritter’s show on the day he died and clips of his final interview hours before his death.

Ritter died last Thursday after suffering a dissection of his aorta, a rare and often undetectable condition in which the wall of the largest artery in the body ruptures.
