OLD OFFSPRING: When you listen to the hoards of new punk-pop bands from Simple Plan to New Found Glory, there isn’tone that hasn’t been influenced by Southern California’s leg endary the Offspring. This is a band that’s always rode thewave of guitars crashing onto rocky drum beats, but theyhave always been an outfit that’s valued catchy melodies. Atthis Hammerstein gig, expect the program to be gleanedfrom the band’s catalog, which now spans nearly 20 years. Ifthe New York crowd is lucky, Brian “Dexter” Holland will leadthe Offspring into oldies “Come Out and Play” and “Self Es teem,” two of their best. Don’t be late, since ex-Hole, ex-Smashing Pumpkins bassist Melissa Auf der Maur makesher New York debut as a solo artist. Tuesday night at 6; tick ets are $32.
