Tom Cruise is returning to the “Today” show on Monday–three years after famously clashing with co-host Matt Lauer.

But now that they’re buddies, don’t expect too many fireworks.

Cruise made headlines back in 2005 when–in the midst of his Oprah-couch-jumping period–he argued vehemently with Lauer about the merits of psychiatry during a “Today” show discussion about Brooke Shields’ postpartum depression.

Among other choice tidbits, Cruise called psychiatry a “pseudo-science,” blasted Shields and labeled Lauer as “glib.”

But whatever bad blood existed between Cruise and Lauer was apparently squelched this past October, when Cruise participated in Lauer’s star-studded Friars Club roast (calling Lauer a “glib putz”).

Monday’s Cruise-Lauer sitdown is really meant for Cruise to shill his new movie, “Valkyrie,” although NBC promises Cruise will discuss his family, career and children.
