‘AMERICAN Idol” Ruben Studdard was No. 1 again as the people voted with their pocketbooks to put his delayed debut album at the top of the albums charts.

His “Soulful” sold 417,000 copies its first week out.

Clay Aiken, the “American Idol” runner up, saw his debut disc hit the top of the charts when it came out in October. His “Measure of a Man,” sold almost 200,000 more copies than Studdard – 613,000 – its first week and has sold 1.7 million copies total.

Studdard’s was the only new CD in the top 10.

Alicia Keys‘ sophomore disc, “Diary of Alicia Keys,” dropped to No. 2, and “Now That’s What I Call Music: Vol. 14,” hit No. 3. Toby Keith‘s “Shock’n Y’all,” was in the No. 4 slot and at No. 5 was Josh Groban‘s “Closer.”
