Discovery is planning an on- air tribute to “Deadliest Catch” star Capt. Phil Harris, who died Tuesday at the age of 53.

Harris, the crusty, tattooed star of the reality show about Alaskan fishermen, succumbed to a massive stroke he suffered Jan. 29 in Alaska.

“They’re definitely going to do [a tribute] but they haven’t started working on it yet,” a Discovery spokeswoman told The Post yesterday. “It will probably air as part of the new season or at the start of the season.”

Insiders say Beers is focused right now on trying to help the Harris family get everything sorted out and on helping them deal with their loss before he can start thinking of specifics for the on-air tribute.

The sixth season of “Deadliest Catch” is scheduled to premiere in mid-April on Discovery Channel.

Shooting on the series, which began last November, has already been completed — meaning that Harris, who captained the Cornelia Marie for 19 years, will be seen on the show in the new season.

“He’ll be a big part of the season and the series,” executive producer Thom Beers told Variety.

The tribute to Harris will likely consist of a montage, perhaps including other characters featured on the show.

Discovery began running a 15-second memorial tribute to Harris Wednesday night.
