LOS ANGELES — Cable network FX has set June 28 as the premiere date for Charlie Sheen’s new sitcom “Anger Management.”

The show will debut with two episodes, The Wrap reported Tuesday. On subsequent Thursdays, new episodes will air on FX at 9:30 p.m., with the previous week’s episode airing before it at 9:00 p.m.

“Anger Management,” in which Sheen plays a therapist, is loosely based on the 2003 film of the same name, which starred Jack Nicholson and funnyman Adam Sandler.

Sheen, 46, was the highest-paid actor on television when he was booted from the CBS hit “Two and a Half Men” in March 2011 for engaging in a public battle with show creator Chuck Lorre after Sheen’s hard-partying lifestyle sidelined production.

In addition to the premiere of “Anger Management,” June 28 will mark the FX debut of “Strangely Uplifting,” a talk show hosted by British comedian Russell Brand, and season premieres of the network’s shows “Louie” and “Wilfred,” according to The Wrap.
