‘THE View” is reportedly looking for someone else to fill the Star Jones seat, because actress Sherri Shepherd is asking for too much money.

TV Guide’s online edition reports that negotiations with Shepherd are stalled and that ABC is “warming” to the idea of adding comic Kathy Griffin or CNN anchor Jacque Reid as a fifth “View” panelist.

Shepherd appears to still be at the top of Barbara Walter’s list – but she is asking for a salary on par with “View” co-hosts Joy Behar and Elisabeth Hasselbeck.

Behar and Hasselbeck are reportedly being paid in the $1 million-plus range

“Moving her family to the East Coast [from L.A.] full-time is a huge commitment, and both [Shepherd] and her representatives are committed to ABC making it worth her while,” a source told TV Guide.

Walters surprised fans of the show last week when she failed to announce Shepherd’s long-anticipated hiring the same day she introduced Whoopi Goldberg as the new “first-chair” co-host for the morning show.

Now Walters says she doesn’t expect to fill the final spot until the show returns from vacation in September.
