‘HI, Billy Mays here for” – well, himself.
Mays, the loud-mouthed huckster for “as-seen-on-TV!” products like OxiClean, Kaboom! and Orange Glo, will star in his own reality show.
“Pitchmen” will begin taping this fall and will document the creation of Mays’ blaring two-minute ads from start to finish, according to The Washington Post.
Mays first gained notoriety in 1999 with his two-minute spot championing the “miracle cleansing” power of OxiClean. He’s since become a cult phenomenon.
Mays is best-known for coming up with rhymes to sell a majority of his products. “The easy way to fix, fill and seal virtually anything fast and make it last!” is how he’s hawked the bonding agent Mighty Putty.
Mays also recently became the new spokesperson for iCan Benefit Group, LLC, a health insurance company.
He’s the CEO/founder of Mays Promotions Inc., which is based in Dunedin, Fla., close to his home in Odessa.
Mays was unavailable for comment yesterday.
