Show set at Groupon
First Twitter, now Groupon.
Proving that TV networks are still hoping to strike gold from mining Internet sensations, CBS has just ordered a pilot for a new sitcom set in the popular Web coupon company’s HQ.
The potential workplace comedy, called “Friend Me,” will follow two 20-something best friends, Evan and Rob, who leave their Indiana hometown for Los Angeles to begin their new jobs at Groupon, according to Entertainment Weekly.
Groupon’s main office — actually headquartered in Chicago — is known for being a quirky place, according to Forbes.com, which would lend itself nicely to sitcom treatment. Representatives for Groupon told Forbes that it is not officially involved with the series.
