LONDON, Ontario — Canadian singer Bryan Adams and his personal assistant are expecting their first child together, CTV reported Monday.

“Alicia Grimaldi and I are expecting a baby,” Adams, 51, wrote on his website. “She helped me start my foundation years ago and it looks like she’ll be running the family now!”

UK newspaper The Telegraph first reported Sunday that the couple was expecting and the baby was due in May, citing a “friend and near neighbor.” Adams confirmed the report on Twitter, writing, “This article is sort of correct (except for the ‘friend’ bit).”

It will be the first child for the “Summer of ’69” singer, who is currently on an acoustic tour in the US until mid-April. He is scheduled to go back on the road in June.
