If you want to have a slumber party with a difference, here’s a book that’ll guarantee your guests won’t go to sleep on you.

In “Slumber Parties: Things to Make and Do” (Chronicle Books, $12.95), Jennifer Traig outlines 14 party themes for the 8- to 14-year-old set, complete with suggestions for invitations, snacks, videos and, best of all, arts and craft ideas to keep everyone entertained.

Mark the next Friday the 13th on your calendar and rent a copy of “The Sixth Sense” to put a stop to any slumbering at your “Night on Haunted Hill” party.

Then serve your guests some chocolate cake with slimy, green frosting before setting to work making pillbox rings fit for a poisoning.

The Arabian Nights party will have your guests belly-dancing the night away – painting exotic tattoos on one another’s ankles and sampling Middle Eastern treats like tabbouleh and baklava before settling down among the cushions to watch “Aladdin.”

Or consider a “bliss-out party,” where everyone gets a manicure and gets her beauty sleep on hand-made lavender pillows. Talk about dreamy!
