‘SOUP’ IS NOT MEATY
THE indie drama “Loudmouth Soup,” about a Hollywood party thrown by a married couple newly transplanted from New York after hitting it big with a film at Sundance, was shot in one night with seven actors, eight cameras and no script.
The director, Queens-born Adam Watstein, who also edited and co-produced, deserves credit for making a film with modest resources.
Unfortunately, the characters are clichés – an actress who uses her body to get roles, a sleazy producer who wants to make it with his female assistant, etc. – and the story, what there is of it, adds little to an overused genre.
So, “Loudmoth Soup” tells us, La-La Land is a nest of vipers. Who woulda guessed?
