All that jazz for Wopat on ‘AMC’

Ex-“Dukes of Hazzard” star Tom Wopat, most recently seen in “Annie Get Your Gun” with Susan Lucci, is joining the cast of “All My Children.”

TV Guide reports in its upcoming (Nov. 24) issue that Wopat will join “AMC” beginning Dec. 5 for a month-long stint as Hank Pelham, a jazz singer who gets locked into a romance with Opal Gardner (Jill Larson). Hank, according to Wopat, “lost his mojo when his wife died and now sells insurance. He hooks up with Opal and she rekindles his flame.”

“AMC” producers thought about reteaming him with Lucci – who stars as Erica Kane in “AMC” – but decided against it. Wopat says Hank was supposed to be a country crooner (which would have fit more with Wopat’s image) but Wopat asked “AMC” producers to change the character so he could plug his new CD, “The Still of The Night.” “It’s the last thing people would expect of me,” Wopat says of the CD.

‘Walking’ tall: Lewis gains recognition

Ch. 13’s “Walking Tours” host Barry Lewis was honored last night by The New York Society of Architects with a Distinguished Service Award – the first time in the organization’s 95-year history that it’s honored someone in television.

Lewis is being cited by the board for his role in “bringing the importance of architecture, and how archeticture defines a neighborhood” to the public’s awareness. Lewis has co-hosted “Walking Tours” since 1998 with David Hartman.

‘Inside’ scoop on the open Mike

Attention Rosie O’Donnell: “Inside Edition” has uncovered a veritable treasure trove of “lost” episodes of “The Mike Douglas Show” – one of O’Donnell’s favorites.

“IE” was combing through a video vault in Pittsburgh when it uncovered the episodes, whose existence Mike Douglas himself wasn’t even aware of. Today, “IE” (2 p.m./Ch. 11) visits Douglas in his Florida home to speak with him about its discovery – and to watch some of the classic bits from the unearthed “Mike Douglas Show” segments, including interviews with Jay Leno, the 1977 cast of “Star Wars” and Arnold Schwarzenegger.

This just in . . .

* Tuesday’s “Late Show” beat NBC’s “Tonight Show” in the overnights (4.9 vs. 4.6) for the first time since Aug. ’00.

* Garth Brooks performs on today’s “GMA” (7-9 a.m./Ch. 7).

* Ch. 21 kicks off its winter membership drive on Saturday with its high-definition production, “Visions of Italy: Southern Style” (8 p.m.). Sunday at 8 p.m., “The French Impressionists.”
