STARR REPORT
Hey, it’s February
How shocking that Tyra Banks-who, last fall, used her show to let America know she’s naturally endowed-waited until the closing days of February sweeps to unleash her latest stunt: Posing as a stripper at a topless club. She does this on Wednesday’s show (5 p.m./Ch. 9) under the guise of exploring “Why are men obsessed with strippers?”
“I wanted to look into those men’s eyes and know what [they are] getting out of this,” says our intrepid heroine, disguised as “Chanel.” Right.
And while all the network news divisions (broadcast and cable) will devote significant time this week to the six-month anniversary of Hurricane Katrina – and Mardi Gras in New Orleans – Court TV’s Nancy Grace and Catherine Crier will also be on the road. Grace takes “Closing Arguments” (3 p.m.) to Atlanta to cover the trial of a Georgia millionaire, while “Catherine Crier Live” (5 p.m.) will be in Martinez, Calif. for the Susan Polk murder trial.
Last, but not least:
* Chris Cuomo’s “Primetime” interview last Thursday with Joran Van Der Sloot (Holloway case): 12.4 million viewers, the show’s best numbers in nearly three years.
* On tonight’s “Extra” (7 p.m./Ch. 4): Kiefer Sutherland shows off his stunt secrets on the set of “24.”
* Ch. 4’s Dr. Max Gomez emcees the Heart of New York gala (tomorrow); Ch. 2’s Roz Abrams hosts a special on AIDS and heterosexual women (today, tomorrow at 5).
* March 7-11: Linda Lavin at Feinstein’s at the Regency with her show, “The Song Remembers When.”
* Happy birthday to Tracy St. Pierre (NBC).
* Veteran PR maven Saul Richfield encountering Jerry Springer in Forest Hills (corner of Queens Blvd. & Continental Ave.).
—
* Rory and Logan – the still-young lovers from “Gilmore Girls”-look like they’re going to be a steady item from now on. TV Guide reports actor Matt Czuchry has quietly signed a new deal that will keep him around for the show’s seventh-and what seems likely final-season.
